Steakhouse

Steak and other red meats can fit well into a healthy diet, just remember to limit portions to 3 oz. (about the size of a deck of cards), and choose lean cuts.  Share large portions with friends or take left overs home to eat for another meal. For healthier Steakhouse options, consider:

  • Cuts of meat that does not have marbleizing in the center, such as London broil, filet mignon, round or flank steak, sirloin tip or any tenderloin
  • Ask for steak without butter, or get butter on the side
  • Baked potato or brown rice instead of mashed potatoes or gratin potatoes
  • Green salad with a vinaigrette dressing on the side
  • Steamed vegetables without butter instead of creamed vegetables
  • Angel food cake or sorbet
