Family Restaurants

When you need the night off from cooking, it's okay to head to your favorite family restaurant. Here are some typically healthy options to look for on the menu:

  • Broth-based soups with lots of vegetables
  • Salad with dark greens such as romaine, spinach or red leaf lettuce with oil-based dressing or olive oil and vinegar 
  • Shrimp cocktail 
  • Grilled chicken strips dipped in hot sauce
  • Grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato
  • Grilled chicken or shrimp skewers
  • Baked potato topped with salsa, mashed potatoes without gravy, or brown rice
  • Steamed vegetables side dish
  • Fruit ice, small scoop of ice cream or sherbet, or share a dessert among the group
