If your doctor has diagnosed you with Pre-diabetes, it means your blood glucose levels are higher than they should be, but not high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes.  Having pre-diabetes doesn't mean you have to develop diabetes, but you most likely will unless you make changes to your lifestyle. If you are overweight, losing weight may prevent the onset of diabetes. Making small lifestyle changes, like beginning a consistent carbohydrate diet and increasing your physical activity, is a great way to lower your blood glucose levels before developing diabetes.  

Once you develop diabetes, there is no cure, so act fast if you have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes.
